Andong is a city where the traditional culture of Korea flourished so much that the nostalgia and influence of traditional culture still remain today. During the Joseon Dynasty, it was famous as the center city of Yeongnam and Namin along with Gyeongju.

It is also home to many of the most prestigious aristocrats to this day. Confucian culture, Buddhist culture, and folk culture all flourished. In line with these urban characteristics, the city slogan is Andong, the capital of Korean spiritual culture.

It borders Yeongyang County and Cheongsong County on the east, Yecheon County on the west, Uiseong County on the south, and Yeongju City and Bonghwa County on the north. The area is not only the largest in North Gyeongsang Province, but also 2.5 times the size of Seoul. From the center of Andong to each region of Andong, various national roads, local roads, and roads are radially spread and intersected, making transportation very convenient.
